Individuals looking to heal from injuries or surgery can benefit from Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD).
People with lymphedema, especially after breast cancer surgery or other cancer treatments.
People experiencing swelling or fluid retention after an injury or surgery.
People with certain medical conditions, such as fibromyalgia, where MLD may improve quality of life.
Reduces swelling (edema): By moving excess fluid out of the tissues, MLD can help reduce swelling in areas like the arms, legs, or face.
Improves lymphatic function: MLD can help improve the efficiency of the lymphatic system, which plays a vital role in filtering cellular and metabolic waste and fighting infection.
May help with lymphedema: Lymphedema is a condition where lymph fluid builds up in the tissues, causing swelling. MLD is often used as part of a treatment plan for lymphedema.
May improve quality of life: Some studies suggest that MLD can improve quality of life in people with certain medical conditions, such as fibromyalgia.
Manual Lymph Drainage is a type of light-touch bodywork that relieves swelling and edema that occurs when illness or medical treatment creates congestion in your lymphatic system.
MLD involves specific and gentle hand movements that methodically stretch the skin and stimulate the lymphatic vessels, helping to move fluid from areas of congestion towards areas with healthy lymph nodes.
